We arrived in Lausanne around 11:30 yesterday morning. We dropped our bags off in our room, and then went out for lunch at a nearby pub before checking out some of the sights. After lunch, we hiked up to see the Lausanne Cathedral (aka The Cathedral of Notre Dame of Lausanne).
| On the way up |
It's a very beautiful church, but what makes it even more awesome is that you can climb its stairs to the top of the tower to get some amazing views of the city and Lake Geneva.
Following the church, we walked around the downtown area for a bit before heading back to our room for an afternoon of rest. Bouncing around from one city to another is exhausting!
For dinner, we had fondue! Initially I thought fondue was only served during the winter time, but our Airbnb host told us you need to go to local places and showed us a place that has amazing fondue. So we tried it out for dinner, along with another Swiss specialty: dried beef. It was all very very tasty!
Today, we have plans to visit the Olympic Museum, walk along the lake, and find some tasty Swiss chocolate!
Initial Thoughts
Lausanne is very beautiful!
The city is very hilly, even the subway we took was on an uphill incline.
Switzerland is crazy expensive! People did warn us that it's an expensive country, but it's still shocking.
