Happy National Ice Cream Day! I hope everyone celebrated, what's not to love about ice cream?
Today we had tickets to see the Anne Frank house, which is something that we were excited about! I booked these tickets back in April, because tickets sell out online months in advance. You can wait in line to get into the museum, but you'll spend probably over a couple of hours just to get in (and the line was lllllooooonnnngggg today).
Because there was quite a bit of rain in the morning, we took the metro to the city center just after 11.
As soon as we got on the train, I immediately felt like Hazel Grace and Gus from The Fault in Our Stars (kidding…kind of). ;)

| I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it! |
We knew we wanted to walk up and down the De 9 Straatjes (or The 9 Little Streets), so as soon as we got off the metro, we started walking in that direction. However, the further we walked, the rainier it got. Soon enough it felt like a downpour, so we hopped into a nearby cafe to grab a small bite to eat until the rain let up.

After the rain stopped, we made our way back out to enjoy The 9 Little Streets. This is a set of streets near the city center filled with all sorts of cafes and shops. We walked through the streets, and popped into a few boutiques here and there.
Our tickets to the Anne Frank House were for a 2:00 entry, so by 1:45 we walked over to the museum. We both thought that the museum was very interesting, and it tells the story of Anne Frank and her family very well. Personally for me, it felt a little emotional going through the rooms and getting a better understanding of what this family had to go through in order to keep themselves safe from the Nazis.

As we left the Anne Frank House, the sun finally came out and the day got warmer! We continued our day by just walking around the surrounding neighborhoods, celebrating National Ice Cream day by grabbing some tasty gelato, visiting the Apple Store (it is officially Adam Approved), stumbling upon the Museum Market the Museumplein, and then making our way home.

| Celebratory gelato. Adam got stroopwafel and I got chocolate |

We ended another amazing day with an amazing meal at a nearby restaurant called De Pizzabakkers. This is seriously some of the best pizza we've had by far (but then again, only a couple more weeks until Italy). =) We went there for the first time a few days ago, and since we worked up a pretty big appetite from all that walking, we felt that we deserved some more!
